First Look at How Google's Self-Driving Car Handles City Streets

First Look at How Google's Self-Driving Car Handles City Streets, article

I think this is one of the most exciting tech developments currently happening. The amount of time used behind the wheel is enormous, and so is the number of deaths and injuries occuring on the streets due to human error.

Another recent announcement in self driving cars was the State of California (where this test took place) announcing new laws about testing self driving cars on public roads. The new laws seem to make it easier and more routine for manufacturers to test their cars.

The legal and insurance aspects of self driving cars need to be worked out as well as the technological aspects. I imagine Google has people working on these things as well.

This can only be a good thing. Yes, most collisions are due to human error - perfecting self-driving cars could make driving almost totally safe (barring the rare mechanical failure).
