FreeDocumentaries.org

Thanks to Paul for pointing to FreeDocumentaries.org.

It seems on the level. Donation-based. There's even famous docus.

Damn, it seems this is the time I am bumping up against one of the limits of the iPad: the "play movie" button does not show on it. It would have been the most pleasant way of watching the films. Can anybody figure out if the movies are run on Flash, maybe?

I tried 'bowling for columbine':

clicked on 'Watch film'
New page opens, and I get to see a trailer from Youtube.

There's a shiny 'watch film now' button
which is a Flash button!

But the good news is that when I click on it, it opens a new window with a Youtube movie (part 1 of 12).

So I guess that you have to find the documentary that you want to watch on Youtube.

Eloake, have you tried this one:
http://www.snagfilms.com/

Would that one work on your iPad?

I'll try.

I have downloaded (in a window) "Sicko". It does not seem to be youtube, but it is low-rez and it has Spanish subtitles for some reason.
It looks like this site is one of those which make their business by cobbling together various free resources under one banner.

Snagfilms.com seems to serve films for pay, not for free. At least I get a "buy" button, not a "watch" button.

I tried entering the address of the film itself ( here) in iPad, and it became clear the film is also Flash.

Steve says we are not to watch Flash movies:

Fine by me. I hate it when I have to implement Flash: one of the most inappropriately used technologies out there.
