I am sailing...

[Thanks to Tom B.] Boston Globe online is one of the web sites bucking the tradition of too-small pictures on the web, well done. This photo essay is outstanding.

Yes, thanks, Eo. The pix are beautiful! I agree w/Monsieur Beep that anything sea-related is quite a draw for me, too...especially beautiful boats such as these! (YUM! LOVE that *CRAZY BOY* Sir Richard Branson, too! :-)

And...this yacht racing (etc.) takes even bigger brass *cahones* than the likes of the *High Seas* kind: these men and women work, exhaustively, day and night, for days and sometimes even weeks and months on end, out in the elements, switching out; untangling; and repairing sails...rain or shine; storm or not. One crew member makes a full meal -- complete w/homemade biscuits, etc. out of the oven -- for the entire crew...whether the waves are towering high above and crashing down on them or not...daily...

They don't get a full 8-hours' rest for days/months on end and yet are required to be *all hands on deck* MANY TIMES, when the oceans are *angry* w/a storm...many times cold and...constantly wet...always jumping back into wet gear (yuck!).

They are an amazing bunch, these who get out there and embrace the oceans like no other I have ever seen before. This is not a sport for the *faint-hearted*; that's why I read and watch...from my laptop! lol! And...I'm probably just *preaching to the choir* 'cuz...many of these peeps are English *blokes* leaving right from Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth...as well as many other places, as shown in those pix, all over the world! lol! ;-)
