Unusual guitar

Unusual guitar playing.

Andy Mckee is great, isn't he.

Actually, it's not so much an unusual guitar as it is an unusual player.

Although, there are some adjustments: a non-standard tuning, for example.

Sure, I meant "guitar" as in "guitar playing".

He's cool. I like it.

There's a lot of new, non-traditionally distributed / produced, excellent stuff popping up on You Tube these days. Old style record companies have to rethink their contracting practices (thank goodness).

Sadly, the severely bandwidth-limited encoding on YouTube cannot render the richness of his playing with harmonics.

Anyone interested in the style would probably enjoy the movie August Rush...

Very nice!

Similar to Mike Hedges readers might wish to investigate his music as well. Used different tunings and ways of playing. Also played Harp Guitar -- see http://www.harpguitars.net/

The bestests, or at least my favourite, tapping style player is Carlos Vamos. I saw him busking in the center of Helsinki some years ago. Talk about a jaw dropping tone and technique.

Check him out here and here.
