Boy And Horse

Well Mr. Stobblehouse you finally had something of substance to post.
Being labeled a racist and that caption you used about black and white. (Geesh, you really blew it there.)
Perhaps you need to do a post about racism? You have my attention.
I do like the photo.

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

It still has not been explained to me how it was offensive. Come on, nobody in the history of mankind *ever* said "it's all black and white" without it being a joke! Have you ever met anybody who in all seriousness claimed that everything was black and white?

All acts of hate are merely calls for love.

Boy, you are out in left field grazing with the sheep. I never knew Adolph Hitler had so much LOVE in his heart?
Did you even go to school kid?

Anonymous said...

there is little point in bringing the subject up again.

Ps. Hey twilight ,
It's not your blog either kid. That's up to the Danish dude Stobblehouse.

It is my understanding that Hitler had a very bad relationship with his father. I haven't studied into it that far, but I believe he once said something along the lines of, "I respected my father, but I did not love him"(paraphrasing). That's not the whole picture of course, but I think that it could have played a large role in forming the kind of person he'd become.

Hehe, it's a shame these entries keep ending up being about things they weren't intended to be about. They are very nice pictures, Eolake.

I like that there's no fence in the picture.

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

Is that an oblique reference to the preponderance of fences in my photos? :)

laurie said...

:) no, it's an oblique reference to there being no need for a fence between the boy and horse, unlike the judgement gates people put between people.

Tsk, tsk, so much anger. And all for nigh.

"Perhaps you need to do a post about racism?"
AGAIN? Please, I'm not re-typing THIS a second time. Will you just read it before passing judgement, pretty please? We went round the whole issue of racism already, but some of the newcomers clearly never saw it.

"Throwing stones at an innocent man won't get you anywhere. Neither will throwing stones period."
The people living in Gaza seem to have understood this. Now, they only need to realize that the same goes for suicide bombings. :-(
Gandhi got it, at least.

This photo reminded me of one of the polemics regarding a Benetton poster. It showed two horses mating. It wasn't about offending sexual content, either. It so happens that the horses were a black stallion and white mare (both very beautiful, and a greatly poetic photo). INSTANTLY, some people saw racism in it and went in turmoil. Um... excuse me, but for there to be a racist intention, shouldn't they have shown a white horse on top?

And it's not as if colors in horses, cats, dogs, etc... were a constant inherited trait. My grandmother once had three kittens, all siblings. One gray, one brown-red, and one black. From a B&W mother. I named them Ash, Ember and Smoke, because they were quite a fiery bunch. ;-)
Sould we establish distinctions between people based on their eye or hair color, too? It's all... skin deep anyway!

Jackson W,
Are you aware that a vast proportion of child abusers (physically or sexually) lived the same when THEY were children? Hate will often stem from a lack of love. This doesn't imply it should ever be excused, or condoned. Just intelligently understood. Know thine enemy, man. By nurturing hate, we share some responsibility for its future consequences. Did Jesus shout "avenge me", on the cross? Nope. He said : "I pity da fools... and I forgive'em." Violence is a spiral, and it takes two to spin this deadly tango.
Hitler didn't have LOVE in his heart, d'uh! He had a huge gaping void where normal people have the love they received.

I suggest you take notice, Mr Washington, that for a bunch of presumed hateful racists, the people you're accusing are oddly friendly and polite. No insults, only some light humour with no demeaning terms. Unlike your tone, mister thought-policeman, sir. Is that how you fight racism, with age-oriented discrimination? That insistence on saying "kid" sounds as demeaning as some uses of the word "boy", know what I'm saying? All humans deserve similar fundamental respect, including two year-olds or trisomics. Or Iraqi suspects... It's called human rights, and there can be no exceptions. Even convicts should always be treated like feeling people, not caged animals.

"we needn't hate those who harm in order to stop them"
That would be what they call bad karma. Such people need only be stopped, pronto. With a firm hand and a calm heart.
Remember Zakarias Moussawi : he got the worst punishment imaginable for such a man. By being denied a death penalty he was clearly seeking, he was also denied the sick pleasure of making killers out of his judges. He wanted to be a "martyr", that foolish assassin. Well, only God will set his final hour. In the meantime, he's neutralized for good.
There are too many innocents getting the death penalty in the USA, anyhow. And most of these are Black...

I've mentioned earlier that I was "race-blind". Well, some soon-to be excellent friends found it out from experience. In 1996, I went to France to pursue my College studies. There, I met a guy in class who introduced himself as "Jean-Paul". Since he was very typed, I assumed with such a name he probably came from Portugal, and didn't give it another thought. We became buddies, but a few weeks later he revealed to me that his name was in truth Abdul-Aziz. He had made the other one up to see my reaction. Except there was no reaction. Because I CAN'T judge people on their faces, only on their character after I get to know them. "Race-blind". Our friendship didn't change on bit after he told me. Whatever his name, I knew what kind of PERSON he was.

We should take example on the boy and the horse in this excellent picture : if individuals of two different species can become trusting friends, couldn't we manage to get along between people? Incomprehension is never a fatality, only a choice.

He said : "I pity da fools... and I forgive'em." (Pascal said)

Actually he said, " Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."
My Lord did call certain people fools at various times. ( In the book of Psalms he said "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God."
How you been Pascal?

I'm with you Eolake. I read those posts about the racism thing. I didn't understand what all the fuss was about? But I'm white, so maybe I missed something about the black culture and what is offensive to some people.
Also Pascal, I didn't know you could get into trouble by speaking to an Israel citizen. Man, that's not good. Very sad world we live in. You're a Doctor also?

I totally agree with you Pascal my friend. I deal with a boss who hates me for being a Union Chairman protecting the rights of the common working folk. (And other unknown reasons?)
Sometimes I feel like a jewish person (not that there's anything wrong by being born a jewish Jesus was Jewish) but I'm looked upon as common trash. It hurts, but only Christ can help me
deal with this.
Love does conquer all I believe.

Nice to hear from you again, Terry.

Re dealing with the world and hate, I recommend the book The Disappearance Of The Universe.

Sounds like a good book Eolake.

Yo, Terry, I'm well aware of the original text. Just translating in ebonics, know what I'm sayin'?
No offense meant to the J-man. Respect, bro. ;-)
It's hard to please everybody, isn't it? As someone in my family likes to say : "Even Jesus died trying, and yet he could'nt do it." Even perfection can't please everybody.
How fortunate, then, that I am very far from perfect!!! :-)

"How you been Pascal?"
Actually, you'd never guess by the abundance of my posts, but I have a laryngitis. Throat burning, voice gone. But getting better.
I'm more worried about this fools' country of mine : civil war seems to be brewing again, toiling and bubbling. I don't pity da fools, I pity me for being stuck among them. ):-P
We'll see after the Friday prayer, whether the demonstrations get bloody. No shopping trips today for me.
You'd think, after 31 years of idiotic and useless fighting, the 18 Lebanese communities would've learned to get along. Along, my rump! The christians are about to start slaughtering each other. Same for the muslims. Luckily for us, there are no jews or buddhists in Lebanon. Decreases the opportunities...

"Also Pascal, I didn't know you could get into trouble by speaking to an Israel citizen. Man, that's not good. Very sad world we live in. You're a Doctor also?"
A graduated MD, yes. As for Israel, there's this quaint official organism we have here, called the Bureau for Boycotting Zionist Products. Better yet, news reporters have been tried and jailed after doing an interview with an Israeli official, under the charge of "contact with the enemy". Don't ask me how we're supposed to one day sign peace with Israel without making any "contacts with the enemy". Beats me. ):-P
I guess some people will only negociate with their friends. A mind so "open" is like a hole in the head, d'uhh!...

(not that there's anything wrong by being born a jewish Jesus was Jewish)
And old classic, but still as funny and relevant as ever.
You reminded me of a less serious one :
A very desperate jewish father is praying the Lord : "Oh, Adonai, my only son has converted to Catholicism. What can I do, what can I do?"
A bright light appears above him, and he hears the Lord's voice : "I feel with you, my child. The same thing happened to me!"

Y'know, LT, I'm a fan of the Boy Wonder. Too bad this wasn't meant as a compliment, because it would've been a good one. Your precocious mind is a source of admiration to me.
Oh, and since I am the resident joker around here, I resent that tights allusion. Let it be known that I have my own undies!!!

You're making the mistake of assuming that everybody wants peace.

I have learned that only a tiny minority of enlightened humans really deep down want peace.

Oh, they're winning, but like Piet Hein said: "Things Take Time".

I prefer the couple of times that the "Boy Wonder" has been a girl.
I mean if you have to have a sidekick you have to keep getting out of trouble, at least she should be pretty enough to make it worthwhile.

"You're making the mistake of assuming that everybody wants peace."
The mistake was deliberate, my good man. Problem with leaders in this part of the world is, beggars want to be choosers. Like the rooster perched on top of a manure heap. Israel is not the country that can be half-destroyed in days by its enemies' overwhelming military power.

Love of self-pitying, that's what is appears to be. "My eternal enemy Israel, I love to hate you. OWIE!!!"

But then, Lebanese politicians being in their vast majority VERY stupid is nothing new. :,-(

You're right Pascal. (Reference 1967) Besides, Israel is God's chosen nation (according to His word.)
But nevertheless the fighting continues. I agree with Eolake that most of the world's people don't really want peace. They seem to have this fixation with war.
George Bush Jr is a prime example. He illegally invaded a country that had NOTHING to do with the 9/11 tragedy.
No great surprize.......but Bush wanted revenge for his father and of course The Oil.
He's paying for the oil through American and coalition blood.
I had a dream the other night that I met former President Carter. I wish I could meet him and William Clinton. They have good hearts and intentions.
I'm sorry Pascal that you must endure all that turmoil. I really do. Please know that. In my heart I feel that someone as kind and thoughtful as you are deserves better. Not to mention your wisdom.

Totally on track here Eolake. One of the women from Domai comes to mind :) Now that's what I would call a great sidekick. Vroooom!

"Things Take Time". (Eolake mentioned a quote.)

I just ordered a clock that is counting down the days of Bush Jr's time in office. I ordered it through buzzflash.net. It's an early Christmas present to myself.
What a nightmare it's been since he was first appointed President. Sadly we still have two years left to put up with his bloodthirsty appetite and foolishness.
Thankfully our Congress and House will be under the Democrats control in January 07. Americans are finally waking up to this criminal and his gestapo rules.

"Israel is God's chosen nation (according to His word.)"
Perhaps so Terry, but for some religious jews, the State that bears this name today hasn't been endorsed by God, since it was only meant to re-emerge after the return of the Messiah. Who has yet to be identified by the jewish.

Me, I think this is all hair-splitting. There are christian, islamic, buddhist, hinduist nations, so why wouldn't the Jews have the right to a homeland too? It's just that all the fighting is totally unnecessary. (Alas, many shallow people welcome hate as a life motivation.)

"I had a dream the other night that I met former President Carter. I wish I could meet him and William Clinton."
Well, I believe they're both still very much alive. So you can try! :-)

Thank you for the good vibes, Terry. Most Lebanese people, even if they're naive enough to follow indignant leaders, don't deserve all this either. That's the problem with the suffering in today's world : it's for the most part entirely useless. What a waste! I don't envy those responsible for causing all of it only to satisfy their petty little interests. On the day of Retribution, they're gonna re-think the wisdom of their choices. Long and hard.

"I'd probably dress up like Captain Planet and patrol the Wal-Mart parking lot."
Hey, I've always felt that Captain Planet could only be corny (you know, "educational" character and all), but amazingly, he's super-cool. That's a nice series.

I especially liked the episode with the three nuclear bombs in North Ireland, Israel, and South Africa. For those who don't know about it, the villain made two detonators for each bomb. He gave the first pair to a catholic and a protestant, the second to a jew and a palestinian, and the third to a Black and a White. Counting on the mutual hatred for somebody to detonate each bomb and harm both sides. I don't even know if Cap showed up before the moment to dispose of the bombs, it was mostly about the Planeteers trying to fight the hatred with their hearts and words. Awesome scenario. And scarily plausible!!!

"I just ordered a clock that is counting down the days of Bush Jr's time in office."
LOL! Now, that's a lot more useful than the one that counted until Y2K! The only "bug" that happened that day was the LCD countdown on Eiffel Tower freezing at the last second. SOME planetary catastrophe, huh? But Bush Jr, NOW we're talking serious stuff! (Could he be the real Y2K bug, that's been bugging the whole world since the Florida charade? I've never been a prophecy maven...)

You're most certainly welcome my friend.

On the day of Retribution, they're gonna re-think the wisdom of their choices. Long and hard.(Pascal said)

I agree with you Pascal. You're on cue. The United States will as well. Again I want to say that I feel for you and your country and the needless bloodshed. We will all give an account someday my friend.

"I had a dream the other night that I met former President Carter. I wish I could meet him and William Clinton."

Thank you Pascal. You're very kind.

"I just ordered a clock that is counting down the days of Bush Jr's time in office."
LOL! Now, that's a lot more useful than the one that counted until Y2K! (Pascal said)

:) Thanks Pascal. I feel that Bush Jr has shamed America and has isolated us from the world. I hope the people of the world understand that half of our country did not endorse this simpleton.
I feel so troubled that the U.S. has killed innocent citizens of Iraq because of one man's greed and stupidity.
Please know that I didn't put him in office and I don't agree with his foreign policy.
Killing for the sake of oil is sick. Killing and calling yourself pro-life is hypocrisy. Bush does both.
Also I feel sad that war itself even exists. Pascal, please be safe. I don't want any harm to come to you or your country or anyone.
But sadly, peace seems like only a spoken word, (a dream and or riddle) I hope the situation gets better for all mankind. I mean this.

Anonymous said...

"I feel that Bush Jr has shamed America and has isolated us from the world."
That's not a feeling, that's knowledge.

What REALLY gets to me, is that practically none of this needless bloodshed would have been possible had the Lebanese themselves not been very stupid massively... and many still are this very day. "Against Man's stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain"... and I don't have the powers of a god.
I try to act with my best weapons : words, ideas, understanding. Sometimes, it seems to work, little by little. Like an ant moving a mountain one grain of sand at a time. It seems an impossible task, but it isn't! :-)

We are mere drops in the ocean. But the whole ocean is nothing but drops. Each does as much as he can, and that's our normal destiny.
We do aspire to accomplish more, of course. Our drive MUST know no limitations.

"I hope the people of the world understand that half of our country did not endorse this simpleton."
I do. ("Simpleton", tee-hee!) But I make the effort to think. Unlike "Brother Osama" and the likes. Blind anti-americanism will be still there for quite a while.

Actually, it seems more like 64% of your country today. Even very religious people under constant brainwashing are capable of waking up.
America is a great country! :-)))

Don't worry too much about me personally. I don't expect the general madness of days past to re-ignite (ain't no more wood left). At worst, it'll be conflict between parties and militants. And you may have guessed I'm no more in any mood to get involved in that. I'm only 35, I still intend to enjoy life.

As someone said: "Dying for your ideas is noble. Living for them is much better yet." :-)
Che Guevara I'm not.
